Question about front axle with Jag rear

Hi everyone
I was just wondering which year and size front axles people use when they run a Jaguar rear axle. I am talking about a traditional drop front axle.

Thanks
Neddy

I'm not a chassis expert, but I do have a Jag in my T. I ran the T for the first two years with a straight rear axle (S-10) and had a typical 48" tube axle up front (4 inch drop). I switched to a Jag two years ago, but kept the same front-end set-up. Seems to work just fine. I don't know why you would need something other than a typical front-end set-up with a Jag.

Carefull lee ... your age is showing!!!

The model A axle is the one your looking for. There are several sources for these. You can expect to pay around $250 for one off e-bay. that has been the cheapest place I've found them.

If you are building a car around a jag rear end, you will find that most of them were built with a tube front axle. We can thank Ted Brown for this. When he introduced the mounts for a jag in his CCR plans, the home builder had a viable resourse with all the engineering already done.

My current project has a jag rear with a tube 4" drop axle. It seems like it will work out ok. Its all in how you set them up, as in installed height.

While I can't deny that CRS is rapidly overtaking me :thinkn: what did I say that tipped you off?
I did wonder why most of the tbuckets in Australia seemed to have the tube axle. I'm personally looking for a more vintage look. Thanks for the info.

if you want trad then a dropped I beam should be on your christmas gift list for Santa.

You can get new SuperBell and new Magnums still, or you could hunt down a dropped original H Ford axle, and get it crack tested
