In my ''T'' I have a 305 chev-vy motor, bored 30 over with a R. V. cam, was overhauled when put together. With a 180 degree thermosat, A Walker V-8 radiator, All work good except when I drive it, sometimes after I shut it off, it sucks the top hose down some, it will also distort the bottom hose .After I start it up it will be O. K. I've heard you can drill a small hole in the thermosat, will this do away with my problem???

Sounds like a bad radiator cap to me
Yep the contraction on cooling should be sucking top up water out of the catch tank but instead its pulling a vacuum in the system. Very bad thing, it can damage the radiator which is made to withstand pressure, not vacuum. Like suck tubes flat and cave in tanks.Seen it happen.

I would say it is a bad Rad. Cap or the line going to the burp tank is plugged.

Hey Butch, I have been around. Been a busy summer and it is still busy. Speed week is coming up soon - you going ?
