Rear spring mounting

I am in the process of mocking up my T. Dumb question: how do I go about installing the rear spring? I have a model A rear crossmember and a Speedway mid rise spring and am using behind axle mounts. How do I go about figuring out where the mounts weld to the axle?

Have you got the mounts? Usually the mounts weld to the rear axle. With that dimension known you simply figure out where you want the wheels in relation to the body and mount the crossmember far enough behind axle centerline and presto chango you are on your way!

On a stock Model A rear end, the spring mounts are 49 1/2 inches apart. I would center the axle ends (brake shoes, rotors, etc.) on the frame and attach the spring mounts 49 1/2 inches apart. That should give you the same ride height, spring rate, etc. as the stock set-up. 20250329_082600 resized2.jpg

If you have the spring and shackles that you will be using, measure the distance from outside shackle hole to the opposite side outside shackle hole laid out in a straight line. I forget what you ADD to this distance, google is your friend, now some use a spring spreader to mount the spring pack on and some take the spring pack apart and spread the main leaf by hand. If you do take the spring pack apart, be careful, the springs are under pressure, use clamps to hold the pack together, swap out the center bolt for a length of thread all, release the clamps and slowly untread the thread all

CCR's plans for building a T-bucket show mounting the spring hangers 44-1/2 inches apart on the rear axle. Since this is copyrighted material, I hesitate to include a scan of this page. However, since CCR is a sponsor of this site, maybe they will post p. 2 of plan set 4, "Rear end Conventional" for you.

Thanks everyone. I didn't get an opportunity to spend any time in the garage this weekend, long honey-do list. I'm hoping to get some time this week. I do have the CCR plans, along with tons of other info I've gathered. I'm not doing the typical thing, hence the A crossmember and mid rise spring. I've seen so many killer looking builds here that I decided to just get going on mine. I appreciate everyone giving what advice they can, I love this site.
