Can anybody with a Spirit 27 T and an RPM fuel tank post a picture of how you have it mounted on the frame? Trying to get an idea on placement. Looks like I want to be closer to where the frame steps up. Also should I try to beef up the mounts? Looks like I will have 1 bolt on each side of the tank. I know I should use grade 8 bolts but what would be a good size?

You have to slide it forward otherwise your diff will hit the bottom of the tank. You do not need grade 8's for the tank. See my thread, Restart My 27T Build in Projects and you'll see a side view of my chassis with tank in place. The mount tabs should right up to the kick-up.

I don't have a 27 so I cant help much, but what I did on my 23pu was mount the body first then pushed it within 1/2" of the body and drilled tapped some 5/16" fine thread bolts in the frame rails.

Thanks for the reply's guys! Bill I went to your post and seen what your talking about. Looks like the tank mounts need to go right to the kick up. I was thinking that but I wanted to be sure.

We install the tank as far forward as possible on the frame. Our brackets are wider than the tank you have. We use 2 holes to mount to the frame. If you are running an 8.8 rearend our tank for that rearend is different than the 10 bolt tank so there is clearance for the rearend. That gas tank is cut at an angle so you can clear the rear-end housing. Best thing is put your body on the frame and then put your tank in and see where you want it.

I'm running the 10 bolt.
