Wayne you won't have any trouble installing the valve body. You have to shift it though, not an option. Just no clutch. There is one draw back to these and that is no braking in the lower gears, you know coming down the mountain and down shift to second gear. It is like putting the tranny in neutral. Not really a problem with these lite cars.
Just like Ron said....manual valvebody is just that....manual. If I'm not mistaken, the B&M Kits have a option to make things manual, But I've always hated working on things overhead on a lift....makes my neck stiff. But yes, a manual valvebody is a bolt in and you gotta move the stick accordingly.....just don't forget going down that moutain in Arkansas at the Bash, down shift, counting on some engine braking to help ya cause it ain't gonna happen. With the B&M shift kit, I think it does, but its been years since I've done one. Anyone Remember?????
I had no luck with the 350 trans hooked up behind anything with Horsepower, they spit out second gear all the time, for me at least?? So now I only use a manual T400, even a stock valve body is fine for normal driving, as I am not into SPEED drag stuff anymore... Nothing to gain... The T400 will go into any gear at any speed and does slow you down in any gear for hills or panic stops help..
Use a Turbo Action, Cheetah, Full manual contol, or manual/ automatic version. See Turbo Action website. Provides engine braking in all gears. Easy to install... Good luck.
and the "hard shift" is the part that you will grow very very weary of. expecially in a light car like a bucket. manual shift is fine, but hard shifts on the street.... not so much. IMO of course.
