The Gallery is back in business

The Gallery is fully operational again. Apologies for the downtime with the Gallery, but it is still a developmental release and wasn't playing nicely with another script we were using. I sacrificed the other script to get the Gallery up and running again.

Enjoy!

Hey Mike, I have been away for awhile. Question?? Upon returning to the new format, I can't seem to locate my original albums on the site. Also, when I tried to download, it gives me an error notice that my photo is too large. What is happening and how do I shrink my photos to acceptable size??

We were unable to convert the old gallery to the new. See THIS THREAD.

A script on the server will do its best to resize images, but it won't work on huge images.

I always recommend using an image format of 640 pixels X 480 pixels. You will find that size will work on just about any Web site format.

If you're looking for a script to do some image editing, there are all kinds of free ones out there. If you are using Windows, I recommend IrfanView. It will allow you to do some fairly powerful editing and is a very simple download and install.

I use several different editors in Ubuntu Linux, everything from Gimp to GrafX2 to KolourPaint to Mirage to Xara Xtreme.

I'll trust the Mac users to suggest editors for OS X, as I also run Ubuntu on my iMac. I just never could find my comfort zone within OS X, so I use what I know.

I took the chance and upgraded the Gallery to Release Candidate 2 and everything is working fine. The IP.Content script has also been upgraded to the latest and greatest <ahem> Beta Release.

A guy's got to live on the edge, right? :hi:

It's easy-peasy. Just read THIS POST and you'll have your very own photo album in the site photo gallery.

If you're trying to insert a picture into a post, that can be done a couple different ways.

1. Your image must be stored on the Web somewhere, either on your own Web site or on a photo album site like Photobucket. If it is stored on Photobucket, the process is deadly simple. Simply pull up the image you want to post here and copy the image's IMG URL to your operating system's clipboard. Come to the forum, start your post and then paste that IMG URL into the text entry window.

If the image is stored on your own Web site, you need to know the complete URL of the image, everything from the http all the way to the file extension on the image (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc.). Come to the forum, start your post and then click on this image, above -

A dialog box will open and you can simply paste or type in the URL of your image.

2. If the image is stored in the photo gallery on this site, find the image and to the right you will want to click on Share Image. In the dropdown menu, copy the Image Link URL. Come back to the site, click on that same Insert Image button -

, paste in the URL and you're finished.

MIke,

When I click on his photos in the "Approaching Suicide" folder I get the following message even though I am logged on:

[#10750] Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

Not sure why.

This one nearly had me ready to pull out my hair. I looked high and low before I finally saw the reason.

No, you cannot see full-size images in his album, as he has closed the album to everyone except his forum friends.

To befriend him, you will need to visit HIS PROFILE. On the left side, under his profile photo, click on Add me as a friend. Once everyone has made nice and become friends :thumb:, you'll be able to see the images.

I near need a drink after sorting that one out. :bubble:

Hi
Sorry for the problems.. very new to forums. I think I have opened up the gallery to everyone. If not is there any way you can do this for me. I have no problem with the album being available to everyone it just down to my ineptitude on forums.
I have around 1000 photos of this car from day 1. I have laso been told that there are many things on it that are either different or fairly original in the way they have been done. Everthing has been hand made, thats why its 15 years and counting

It's working for me now. Thanks!
