The orginal Car Washes?

Funny this should come up. I was at the car wash yesterday and a fellow customer and I, both about the same age (60), got into a conversation about the early automated car washes. I remember going through one where the car was on a converyor but all of the washing, rinsing and drying was done by hand. The guys who did the wheels and rocker panels were actually in a pit about waste high. I want to say it cost about $5, maybe less.

I've got a road about a 1/2 mile from the house with a creek next to it where I can do that 2 or 3 times a year for free.

What amazes me is the work that went into building it! Stone and masonry work throughout... this was not a cheap space to build!
