The words "T-Bucket"

It's really sad, I have a new neighbor that's an auto shop teacher at a local high school. He's about 30 years old and when he heard me running my bucket this year he came over to look at it. He never saw anything like it and if you heard some of the questions he asked you would have never known he was an auto shop teacher. He can talk about computers and turbo chargers but that's about it. Computer diagnostics is the major part of his lesson plan, I doubt 1/2 his class could trouble shoot a lawn mower that wouldn't start. When his kids talk about hot rodding it's expensive wheels, computer tuning and NOS.

Damn. Another generation that will look at you stupid if you mention points and condenser. Kinda sad if you ponder it for a while. My fuel pump went out on my T at my old job. My boss and his nephew were amazed when I told them I'd have another one on in 30 minutes and that included the trip to get it.

Geez whats with all these stories about people not knowing what a bucket is. Has the Jap Tuners had that must infiltration.

It's really sad to think that the vast majority of today's kids have no idea what a true hot rod is (like a Deuce coupe, T-Bucket, '40 Ford, etc) they just know it's "Some kinda old car". When my son and nephews were in high school (mid to late '80's) their friends would have called my T-Bucket a "Bad ass hot rod". Yesterday my grandaughter's boy friend (they're both 16) just asked "What kind of car is that?". I explained "This is my hot rod. It's a 1923 Ford. Usually referred to as a T-Bucket". He had no idea what i was talking about when i explained "I'm swapping the tunnel ram and Holley for a single four barrel".

On the other hand, my neighbor was amazed about how much my 5 year old grandson knew about my T-Bucket the day after i bought it. "See those big pipes? It has big pipes because hot rods are supposed to have big pipes. See those big tires? Hot rods are supposed to have big tires. And it has flames".

There my be some hope for those youngsters yet.
