Upload file button

i recently got the upload file button activated on here. I tried to upload some photos with it, it seemed to work except it gave me a "file too large" error. I think I remember reading a post about converting photos, but I don't remember where. Anyone else have a similar issue? I selected the file, photo, from my computer so I didn't have any options as far as size or file type. What are the limits as far as file size?
I am hesitant to post this because I don't want to sound like a complainer, I just don't know.

Flech, I use Microsoft Picture Manager to edit pictures. If you have XP or above you should have it. You can resize, crop, rotate, etc there. I try to keep all my photos around 140kb/170kb for forum use.
Complain? If you don't know, ya gotta ask. I am guessing you are using Windows. If you need more info, pm me. BTW, if Windows, what version?

get light image resizer, its free. You can resize pics in batches, save them to a folder (I call mine ????pics for forums) and you can upload from there, also in batches.

I'm using Apple iPad. I was gifted with it and it's convenient, but I am much more familiar and proficient with windows. I will do some digging to see what's available for it. There may be settings, I just don't know what size file the forum will accept. I searched all of the posts relating to picture uploading and found where Mike discussed limiting picture uploading due to storage cost and that's where things likely were changed. It did not, however state what the file size allowance is.

Thanks! That's what I needed to know, the file size.

That is good information. Unless Ron is periodically removing uploaded files from his server, they are stacking up and at some point will overload it. That could be years from now, I have no way of knowing, but if we all try to keep the photo's to a reasonable size it will take just that much longer before it becomes a problem.

I use 1600 X 900 pixels as my forum file size.
