Zoomies pros and cons

I've been looking into throwing on some zoomies and would like to hear some pros and cons. I've read that they are louder even when baffles are installed, but other insights would be greatly appreciated. I just like the look!

IMO , you're calling attention to yourself by being obnoxiously noisy , it's childish behavior . Kinda like the guy with the REALLY loud stereo...

Well . . . mea culpa. These cars aren't exactly 'low profile' rides. I guess I'm still kinda a kid at heart, and I like noisy cars, so zoomies are OK by me, though my impression is that on a mildly tuned car they don't sound very aggressive. They need high compression and a lotta cam to really sound mean.

You're right Spanky , these cars are very noticeable which is why being abusively loud is not needed or warranted . I'd much rather be noticed for the quality of the car and it's presentation than in scaring old ladies and pissing off soccer moms..
When you were a child you could get GOOD attention or BAD attention , I've always been better off with the latter

That's a little harsh and uncalled for.
I said I liked the look.
Each pipe would have a baffle as mentioned in my opener. I'm looking for other pros and cons. I'm running a cammed 400 SBC at 9:1 compression. With my current side pipes (unsupported by anything but the mounting flanges) , I'm getting a lot of vibration...zoomies will help with that and look really cool IMO. And, yes...I'm considering adding supports for the side pipes instead of zoomies. I just want all the info first.

My wife's T-bucket has zoomies. Each pipe has a baffle, to me the sound is kind of "tinny" but she likes it. In either case it is not obnoxiously loud, actually my 409 is louder. The good thing is that with zoomies you will never burn your leg getting in the car.

It will hurt performance, unless you are running a blown motor. But I do like the looks!

I've seen several cars with zoomies at the cruises here and they don't sound much louder than sprint headers when just puttin' around. I have a set of individual pipes with baffles:

..and they're about as loud as my headers. The difference is you hear each cylinder firing instead of the blending you get with headers, so it's more of a crackling sound.

I just installed a set of Sanderson Zoomies a couple of weeks ago. They came with baffles which helped to quiet them down a little. I like the looks, but you almost need ear plugs when you get on it.

I am curious if you did go with Zoomies and what your take is, I have been looking at the Sanderson ceramic coated zoomies and not sure about the 16" or 19", and what difference it would make on my 1923 T.

Welcome to our family! Zoomies are definitely a matter of personal taste. My brother had them on his 'Bucket - with baffles - and loved them. Not really that loud on his Ford 351 with mild cam and blower.

These are actually not very loud, even without baffles. I'm in the "loud pipes save lives" camp though.

If you are going back and reading some of the older comments then you have to remember that @2old2fast is a cranky kind of guy. Just factor that in when reading his comments.

Opinions! They’re like belly buttons. We all have one! I, personally like a little noise but not so much you need ear plugs or can’t have a conversation with a passenger. I do like the look of zoomies! And, less chance to get burned!
