    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

After a lot of hours of cutting & welding (reduced to gas welding now) it was all in and fits real nice. There 31 cuts and welds in that bit of 25x25x3mm to make the arch up and over the trans!!

    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

Got another couple of days on the car over the weekend, Started with little things that were annoying like the trans dipstick tube mount had cracked where it bolts to the block. It also stuck up to high and i would catch it, it would move and then recently it popped out and dumped fluid all over...

    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

It's been a few months since i had time to look at the car, let alone log in here, and it's suffered from the neglect. When i started it up an exhaust valve was stuck almost open, and would not budge, the rocker spun off and a pushrod bent. So first job was off with the heads to fix it all and...

    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

Been very quiet on the car the past couple of months, but did a little bit the other day. Starting to brace the cowl and frame across under dash area. Of course it fouled the steering box so had to dip around that. Mocked up the steering box and it should all fit ok now.

Can you have too much power?

Hot street legal buckets rock! and NZ has had a lot of them. Going way back there was Roger Murray, seem to remember BB ford? and 3 foot high wheel stands at will and 9's on the 1/4. Then there was Euan Mark from Levin? Blown BB Chev 8.6's in the late 80's on slicks, this car is still around...

    Fadsters new photos volume 1

I may take you up on it next time i'm in the UK, when you are there on holiday its hard to find whats on and when, let alone find other like minded T nuts. Although i did find John Bonhams (Led Zep) old T C Cab originally built by Andy Brizzo in 1970? a few years ago, still in mint condition...

Can you have too much power?

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH POWER!!! Must be something with NZ T's, heavy and fast. My old small block T weighed 2655lbs with me in it (but i guess i added 255lbs to the equation). Used to drive it from the Mount to Meremere, about 130miles each way, run 11.0 then drive it home. Did 12.0 at...

Reversing a steering box, in this case from an HQ holden but others would be similar

Re: Reversing a steering box, in this case from an HQ holden but others would be simi They are pretty cheap, about $15-$20US would get an OK one, and all parts to rebuild them are readily available. Not sure on freight costs.

    vavle covers

I'm not sure of the point, other than for a bit of bling and to make the engine look bigger, why not just fit a big block!

    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

A couple more shots, basically i have welded a bolt to a piece of box which i clamped to the chassis to use as a pivot. The real pivot will be a piece of 32 or 35mm bar machined to suit a bush which will be fitted inside a piece of 35mm pipe. The arms of the crank will be cut from 15mm...

    Kiwi 26/27 RPU build

OK i had a bit of a play today and this is what i came up with, not the finished article obviously but something roughed up to see if it would work, which it does. Have drawn up what i want the final piece to look like and will be getting a mate with a better home workshop than me to machine it...

Reversing a steering box, in this case from an HQ holden but others would be similar

Re: Reversing a steering box, in this case from an HQ holden but others would be simi Would not be surprised, GM 1971-1979(ish) Good box as it's quite compact, but strong with it.

Reversing a steering box, in this case from an HQ holden but others would be similar

Reversing a HQ steering box is a very easy job, the hardest part is getting the pitman arm off to enable you to strip it. Starting point - one dirty unloved HQ Box Cleaned & stripped Find a suitable seal and bore the new input to suit Find something to plug the old input shaft hole...
