Building a windshield frame and posts.

I wanted some sleeker looking posts that what I have seen on most T's and decided to get the look I wanted, I would have to build them. I bought some 1/16 wall thickness, 1/2 square tubing from Home Depot. I then cut one side of the tubing open giving me a channel with a 3/8 groove in it. I notched the top of the body with a cutoff saw to allow the windshield frame to sit flush with the top of the cowl. I cut the channel to a width of 37 1/2 inches and the sides to 16 inches. I then bought some .250 chrome moly plate and cut the shape of my posts out of it. I bent the post to allow for a 10 degree angle of my posts and a will TIG them to the windshield IMG_20121014_124140.jpgIMG_20121018_190253.jpgIMG_20121014_124205.jpgIMG_20121018_185952.jpg frame. I'm also placing 3 1/4-20 studs across the bottom to keep the windshield from bowing in the center at highway speeds. I have a structure under my dash to support my steering box and steering column and to this I'm going to weld some tabs for retaining bolts to past through the posts and body, so not much pressure will be on the fiberglass body structure.

cool:)
