What tool can I use to cut a fiberglass dash?

What do you want to cut, holes for gauges, or cut it up to make it different? Different tools for different jobs.

Dashs are real flimsey. I back them up with about 3 more layers of glass first.

Fiberglass cuts easily w/ normal woodworking tools , fine blades are best..

These cut the fastest, but messy. Glass dust flying everywhere.




These are slow but last a long time. You have a lot of control and no itch.


These in my opinion are useless. They last about 20 seconds.

I got a dash from Speedway, it's oversized on both sides and the on top. I need to trim on top and the sides.

Put tape over the line and use a 4" cut off disk or a fine tooth blade in a jig saw used on slow speed.

I would use the cut off disc. It makes a lot of dust, so try to do it outside.

Cut off disc or fine tooth body saw or jig saw. Cut it a little big and use a sander to fine tune it for a clean fit.

I use hole saws from Lowes cobalt brand to make holes for gauges they hold up very well. Don't use the cheap ones for wood from hf they don't hold up very well but hf does have a professional model that is quite good.

The key to making any cutting tool last is Speed & Feed ...slow down& don't force it & your tools will last longer ..
