I used Summit Racing epoxy direct-to-metal primer on all metal parts. Sprays really nice and sands easily. Can be top coated with any type of finish coat.
If you use epoxy as your topcoat, expect to see some fading/chalking as epoxies aren't UV stable. Usually epoxies are top coated with urethanes or even acrylics.
