I am a stickler for ground clearance. 4"s or more. Common everyday obstacles are driveways , speedbumps & street litter.

Just ask that member who spent $400 or more on a new oil pan and pump to fit it about street litter / road debris. . . . .

Started on the headers today. Never even tried this before…but I think I’m off to a good start. Me and the old man did more in 3 hours today that the dude that had my car for 2 months to build a set even came close to doing. Learning as I go.
Just tack welding it together. I’ve got a buddy that’s going to tig it all up when I’m done.

TrueBlue ; I'm so jealous , your usage of a Cadillac drivetrain , has me green with envy. I like your hand fabricated headers. Your project is " Da bomb ".

Those 472 and 500 cid used to be a dime a dozen but getting hard to find as are the steering columns. Sent several of them boats to the bone yard after procuring specific parts. We put a 500 in a 67 gmc step side. Had to Section the oil pan for steering clearance but it would shred the tires and run smooth as silk.

I’ve researched these so much the last year lol. Mine is a 472 from 68. The first year with the high compression. We rebuilt it ourselves aside from the machine shop dipping the block and honing it. Fingers crossed we didn’t F nothing up

Did you make any mods to the 472, like cam, valve train, etc?

Been working quite a bit towards the finish line here before Christmas. Headers done, engine started and runs beautifully (low key I was nervous was hell). Started wiring her up..lights and ignition are all done. Just need to get the driveshaft made and it will be a driver

edit…I have no idea why my pics sometimes post upside down when posting from my phone

Also..can anyone help here with the turns.
This is the turn signal assembly I’m using. This wiring harness has the 2 prong flasher, with the one wire coming out the bottom side, which is purple. the signal harness has the blue and black which is supposed to connect to what I believe is a 3 prong flasher. How can I connect this to the 2 prong? Sorry if I butchered that entire question ‍♂️

I just installed one of those turn signal switches on my Model A Ford. If I remember correctly that 3rd wire is for the pilot light in the unit. I ended up using a 2 wire flasher and just left that wire disconnected. I used a 2 wire with an internal buzzer to remind me to shut the turn signals off since they’re not self cancelling. It’s irritating but it does remind you to shut them off!
