Can anyone tell me the height measurment from the top of the leaf spring to the center of the wheel on a 6" drop axle from speedway? Im trying to get an estimate on how much ill need to step the rear of the frame.
That may be a little hard to determine since there are severable variables: the height of your spring package; the distance from the spring perch to the spring eye/shackle with full weight on it. Keep in mind that adjustments can be made by adding shims to the spring perch.
A 6 inch drop axle is a pretty deep drop! I would make sure you verify your scruff line....if you get a front tire flat, verify that you don't scrape the ground. I used a 4-inch drop axle, and I've only got 2-1/2" of clearance for my cross-steering pitman arm and the bottom of my oil pan. Something to consider from a safety perspective.
I'm assuming that when you say "spring over" you mean like a Model A, not what is shown in those pictures. If so, I have a 2 1/2" drop axle with a spring over leaf spring and it is about 2 1/2" - 3" from the top of the spring to the center of the spindle with 1500 lbs. of weight on it. Add 3 1/2" for a total of 6" drop and I'm guessing you would have something closer to a straight line from the top of the spring to the spindle. A lot of this depends on the height of the shackle hangers above the axle, length of the shackles, thickness of the spring, and so on.
That looks like a 4” drop to me. Measure from the floor to the bottom of the axle then from the floor to the axle where the spindle is connected. That is the amount of drop.
