Lots of cool ideas. The battery life, charge duration, and cost are the sticking points. If money was no option, it would be interesting to experiment and add solar panels on top, generators on the wheels, small fossil or nat gas fueled generator with hydrogen, etc, to see how far it could be driven without requiring connection to a outside power source. Sort of the old perpetual motion attempt. I doubt we will ever see one commercially because the energy industry is such a income producer.

Pretty cool looking motors. I guess that I am living in the dark ages when an engine was internal combustion, and electric power was a motor.

I have said for years that I would be willing to drive a good, dependable hybrid to lower the cost of gas on my T bucket. The Toyota and Honda hybrids have proven themselves very dependable, even better than their designers expected, and we just bought a Honda Accord Hybrid. We drove it over to Tyler, TX, and back and got 45.1 mpg. How unobtrusive is the electric part? There are people (mainly women, admittedly) who have acquired a hybrid and never realized what they were driving. Put gas in, push the start button, put it in Drive, and go.

As I mentioned in the oddball engine thread, the issue that is still behind with electric is energy storage.
A T-Bucket is the very far end of light, small and simple.
An electric drivetrain and storage battery have great points, but for a decent range need to be pretty heavy and the battery is large while the motor is small.
Typically, the battery is down low and covers a majority of the footprint. So it's either very small and hidden or it is a big ugly 'bottom' under the typical T. I can imagine that a full fendered style could hide it much better. Add a hood over the motor and it could work. The motor could even be under the bed of the one here, with more battery, a mock engine or added foot room choices up front.

One of the coolest "cheap" buckets I remember was in a Rod& Custom I think. It was a track nose '27 roadster with VW running gear. I think he used the VW pan just cut away everything that stuck out beyond the body. Story was he wanted to go to an NSRA nationals and his current ride was not going to be ready in time so he and his buddies made this car in a week! It was light blue with moon disks. I remember it from I guess 40 years ago!
