Any chance of a thread just for interiors and dashes?

The most dated aspect of the car is the blue crushed velvet interior, so it needs to go pronto. Do you guys usually buy a kit, or do you find a local upholster to do the work? Any pics of the different pieces you have used for some inspiration?
Thanks

On my Son's T bucket he bought the Total Performance "drop in" interior because he thought since he had a TP body it would be an easy way to get a proper fitting interior. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was an absolute pain in the butt to install, and we ended up cutting out 2/3 of the foam to get it to not look like a horse and buggy interior. It took us 4 days and we almost gave up a few times.

We got it done and it came out ok, but the material is not the quality of what you can get from your local upholstery shop. It has been in the car for 4 years now, with very little use, and is starting to show wear and pulling. He is going to take the car to a local shop at some point and have a whole new interior put in.

On my 27 and on my other Son's rpu we shopped around and had to go to a shop 70 miles from here to get a good job, but they came out really outstanding. The vinyl is heavy and of good quality and the workmanship was first rate. It cost a little more than the drop in version, but it is well worth it. I wish there was a good shop closer, but this area is like a desert when it comes to shops to do hot rod type work.

My suggestion is to find a good local shop and look at some of the jobs they have done for others,

Don
