guys
Well, here we go. I have spent most of my saturdays for the last 8 years helping a friend build his car. It's not done yet.

(the brakes, the brakes!) but I've got to get started on mine.
After a few months of looking at the forum it's obvious that mine will look like crap, so I'm laying out my defense now:rolleyes:
Here are a few shop pics:

anyway, I have a lot of other stuff I may or may not use, and I hope to get started soon.

Now, it's your on fault, you guys claim to like pics.

Incedently, I have hundreds of pics of John jr's build, but most are Pre-digital!

Looks like a great start. People have made nice stuff with lesser equipment. Is that a Pontiac motor with the 3 dueces?

77 trans am short block (9000 miles, lunati bracketmasterII) 67 #670 heads, 65 manafold (I also have a Torquer II and 780 Holley) well used goat headers for the flanges, 74 point type distributor, 68 front cover and on and on and on ;)

And youse guys are in a world of hurt because I know the wrong ways, and yall are gona get lots of questions.

That dobie will make a great shotgun. You have all you need to build a great lookin car. Now stop makin excuses and GET BUSY, your like 5 beers behind already. And take lots of pics please we like um a lot. Ps my vote is for the pont tripower.

If you use the manual transmission use a hydraulic throwout bearing. There isn't a lot of room under the floorboard for clutch linkage. There is a video on Spirit's website that shows manual clutch linkage that a guy made. It works but it is a series of bell cranks and rods. Complicated.

Beer is the one thing I'm probably not behind on. My vote is for the tripower too, but I'm about 3 carbs short:neutral:, and haven't found the badger aircleaner set for them either:mad:

the dog is a velcro teddy bear but big for a Dobie (29" at the shoulder 82#) .

Like I said, still fighten John's car a bit, but I will get going soon.

I learned something last Saturday! I was blasting the new (older) front cover and discovered that the Aluminium Oxide through the siphon gun will work great cleaning aluminum, but the nozzle wears out fast and then the blaster quits working so good!
I'm working on getting the engine running (sure fire motervation:D) but this weekend back to John's.

If you ever need a kidney John should give you one of his after this HAHA

your shop looks like mine, ask Todd. Mike, it's not the tools you have that build you car ... it's the guy using them that makes the difference. sure wish i had your plasma cutter!

Ron

The pontiac tripower would be cool. But finding headers for a bucket might be tough. Nice parts to bad dash has bubble. Get building.

Cool parts for your build. Your garage looks a lot cleaner than mine. :D

is the center carb the big pontiac one?

Ron

Ron
The manafold is a '65. Big end carbs small middle carb. the carbs there are junk. I found base plates for the end carbs on ebay but havent bought them yet, the middle carb might be salvageable. Part of the puzzle is that the big base Rochesters came in a half adozen different venturi sizes. I have three, all differet and none the size pontiac used on the tripower. I also need to find one side fill top. It will happen, but the car may start life with a 780 Holley on a Torquer II that I also have in stock. Back before I was "downsized" I picked up a lot of stuff. ;)

Are you sure? It runs on oxy aceteleen and grind grind grind!

This is the plasma i have and it is very good. i have cut 3/8 with it. but 3/16 and below it works perfect.

i do'n't have torches so yeah, i'll take them to store for ya!

Ron

to be honest, I would dearly love Rooster's setup. But the old torch works, cuts as big as I've tried and lets me screw things up trying to braze on them to boot!:D

over 50 years ago all we had was a grinder, arc welder and drill. Dip the arc welding rod in water, turn up the heat and burn... finish on the grinder. a big farm hay stacker fork lift was real handy to lift engines bodies etc.
