Today is the 1st day of the feast of Christmas, which goes for 12 days ending at Epiphany, January 6. It has been immortalized in the song, "The 12 Days of Christmas" and today's gift is A Partridge in a Pear Tree! Note: no fasting during the 12 days, only feasting!
(PS - It's also "Boxing Day" in British Commonwealth countries.)

Some might point out that the "1st Day of Christmas" is actually Christmas Day, not the 26th. Either way, it's a time of joyous feasting and celebration, culminating in the "Twelfth Night" which Shakespeare chose as subject for one of his plays.
