I got my hands on a set of chrome headers and mufflers and they need to be polished , If they want polish what can I do? This is a set of Mr Gasket sprint style header, They are a lot heavier then new ones,no dents good shape except the surface rust

I have a set that sounds like they are about like what you are dealing with. I have elected to have them ceramic (sp) coated. I just have to pick between black, white ,or silver!

Mike, you're not going to be able to polish rust off of chrome. If it's rusty, that means it's eaten through to the base metal. If you polish it, you'll be left with pits in the plating, which will just re-rust the first time it's exposed to moisture. The plating on chrome parts is very thin and can't take much in the way of polishing. I burned through the chrome and nickel layers down to the copper in less than 10 seconds on a piece I tried to polish on my pedestal buffer while using a wheel and compound supposedly made for polishing chrome. I was just trying to remove some swirls from hand-polishing with the wrong kind of cloth. :)

I got a quote of $265 (plus shipping) to media blast-strip and re-coat my already coated headers. Unfortunately, the link to their site is on my office computer and I don't remember their name. I want to say they are in Tennessee. I'll try to remember to send you the link when I get to the office on Monday.
