Coated headers

I have s set of traditional style headers from Speedway. They have about two hundred miles on them and have already tarnished from the engine heat. I am looking to either have them Jet Coated or just order another set that is already coated. Has anyone had a problem with the coated headers from Speedway? I know their's are coated on the outside only. I hate to spend anymore money on headers, but I can't be satified with headers that are tarnished. Anyone know of a place I can get mine coated for a fair price? Thanks

Google "jet coat". They were running a special last month. Don't know if it is still on.

I had the same problem. I was told (I forget by whom) that Speedway sources their headers from Patriot. Patriot has known quality problems, especially with their coated headers. I am going to get mine re-coated by NitroPlate. Recommended to me by the hot rod shop that did my paint job. The shop owner (Dave Tallant) told me that he has used all of the big name coating and plating shops, and he now uses NitroPlate exclusively for quality and value. NitroPlate quoted me $235 to media blast and re-coat my headers and turnouts.

Speedway actually sells the Patriot headers and the ones I have haven't faded that much.

You can always try locally to avoid shipping charges. We have a local guy that seems popular with people around Lafayette but it took him a week just to call me back with a price so I sent my stuff to Nitro Plate in Nashville. Before xmas they had a 10% off special plus free return shipping so it was cheaper as well. There a bunch of people on one of my Ford forums that have used Nitro plate for years and always had good work done that lasts.

I don't like the sound of this. I thought the Patriot headers were supposed to be good!!

We had some Speedway headers and after 2 years and 6000 miles one of the tubes cracked and they started to rust. Contacted Speedway and they refered me to Patriot. They said sure ship them back, they would repair the tube and recoat them. It was almost $100 to ship to Patriot and the same back. So I just fixed the tube and had M&R here recoat them.
