Welcome from the Sunny State of Florida! Bunches of Old Guys running around in T-buckets out here too! Livin the dream!

Howdy! I should be back on the road in another couple of weeks. Looking forward to meeting y'all on the road.

Hey guys. It's been a long time since was on here. I'm still searching for this car that my dad built in the mid 70's. Anyone in the DFW that might have knowledge of it's whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking for this car for many years now in hopes I can locate it possibly buy the car back. many years of childhood are wrapped up in this car.

I understand the car is owned by a gentleman in the DFW area today.

Here's the link to the pictures: http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/wan/5100937615.html

I've tried researching the last known license plate number (MS Antique #1196) and have had no luck. I do not have the VIN number or any other official documentation. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who might know anything about this vehicle or offer advice as to how i can track this car without a VIN number. I can't afford to hire a private investigator so my options are pretty much going to be someone seeing the car and getting the owners info on my behalf. I have attached the only pics I have of the car, PLEASE NOTE, these photos are from 1978/79. With the exception of the body, this car was built 100% from scratch by dad and was show quality. There is nothing on the car that could be considered a "kit" part.

Since the 70's & 80's, the car has been thru a couple changes. However, the interior, paint, brass radiator and steering setup still original. Last time I saw the car was in 1986, at that time, it had 70 series tires w/ Cragar Tru-Spoke wheels and a blower intake setup as shown in some of these pics.

The following are some distinguishing characteristics that will identify that this is the car i'm looking for:
1. Hand cut walnut dash with centered gauge cluster (Stewart Warner Gauges)
2. Steering column came from a VW bus, it was shortened and comes up thru the floor straight up n down.
3. The steering wheel was a custom made 6" dropped "T" style with brass spokes and wood ring that was originally purchased from the Florida Rod Shop around 1976/77.
4. The interior was a medium tan color diamond style tufted and pleated.
5. Brass Radiator.
6. Paint color was a 1976 Cadillac "fire-thorn" red.
7. Brass carriage lights on the cowling.
8. 70's style Mustang/Pinto automatic floor shifter
9. It did have some pin striping on the body sides in the door corner area and on the tailgate. Also had a big letter "T" on the cowling at the base of windshield.
10. Originally had a Chevy LT1 350 with an Offenhauser cross-ram intake.
11. TH400 Transmission.
12. Had side "wind wings" that attached to the sides of the windshield frame.
13. Headlights are from a 1931 Chevy.

These pictures will help show some of the car's unique characteristics i spoke about above.

If you have knowledge of where this car is or might be, PLEASE drop me an email or give me a call @ 303-378-4846

Thanks,
Zack

Hello,
Do you happen to know if this car is owned by someone in your community? My dad built this car in the '70s, and I have been searching for it for over 15 years in hopes of buying it back. Please see my story below and pictures attached.

Hello, my name is Zack Methvin. I have been searching for my Dad's T-Bucket that he hand-built from scratch for many years now. It is a 1923 T-Bucket Roadster that he started building in 1975 and completed in 1979 when we lived in Jackson, MS. For those familiar with Jackson, MS, in the 1970s & '80s, my dad (Lonnie Methvin) owned Northside Texaco on Northside Drive & IH-55N, next to John Bennett’s Union 76 s00-A0-A-2-Py-FMak27-Y3-1200x900.jpgtation. In 1975, he bought the Briarwood Gulf at Canton Mart Road & I-55N and later acquired Briarwood Texaco at Briarwood Drive & I-55N.

Dad showed the car at the Jackson Trade Mart building in 1979 at the “World of Wheels” and won two classes with it. Later that year, he sold the car to Joe Speed, who at the time owned North Jackson Honda-Yamaha located at the corner of State St. & Briarwood Drive in Jackson, MS. Around 1988, Joe sold the car to Gary Elliott, who lived in Brandon, MS near the Ross Barnett Reservoir. I tracked down Gary a few years back. He said he sold the car in 1991 to an elderly man named John Conner, who he recalled lived in Dallas, TX. This is where the trail goes cold. I have followed up on every lead I have received, but with no luck.

If you know of anyone with a car like this, please let me know, as I would like to check into it. I've researched the last known license plate (MS Antique #1196) with the DMV but have had no success. I do not have the VIN number or any other official documentation on the car. I've also searched old insurance records and car clubs without success. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who might know anything about this vehicle or offer advice on how I can track this car without a VIN number.

Here are some very distinct characteristics that would identify this car:

  1. Hand-cut walnut dash with centered gauge cluster (Stewart Warner Gauges)
  2. Steering column is from an old VW bus, coming up through the floor and almost straight up and down
  3. Custom made 6" dropped "T" style steering wheel with four brass spokes and wood ring (purchased from Florida Rod Shop in 1975/76)
  4. Naugahyde tan color diamond style tufted and pleated interior
  5. Brass radiator
  6. 1976 Cadillac "fire-thorn" red paint color
  7. Brass carriage lights on the cowl
  8. 70's style Mustang/Pinto automatic floor shifter
  9. Pinstriping on the body sides in the door area and on the tailgate, with a big letter "T" on the cowling at the center base of the windshield
  10. Originally had an LT1 350 engine with an Offenhauser cross-ram intake
  11. TH400 transmission
  12. Side "wind wings" attached to the sides of the windshield frame
  13. Headlights from a 1931 Chevy
Note: The pictures showing the car with Cragar S/S wheels and a cross-ram intake were taken when Dad still owned it and at the time he sold it to Joe Speed in 1979. Joe added the wire wheels & blower in 1980.
To be clear, I am ONLY searching for this car with hopes of buying it back—nothing else. The car is NOT stolen or anything like that. Dad passed away in 2017, and I would love now more than ever to buy the car back. I’ve been actively searching for this car for many years. I had hoped to find, buy it back, and surprise my dad with it, but unfortunately, that day will never happen. Even with him gone, this car is still EXTREMELY important to me.

If you could please spread the word around and/or post this ad in your business, that would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also cross posted this ad in numerous places on Facebook. Please share it with as many people as you can nationwide. I don’t know exactly what state the car could be in, but I have a hunch it is still in the DFW area. Feel free to contact me anytime.

Thank you for your help and consideration

Zack Methvin
