Floating bed - not attached to body - ?

Is anyone running a floating bed, or one that is not attached to the body? My bed is 30 inches long so it would not look weird being by itself. Though you would be able to see the frame on the bottom at the sides of the bed.

I was mocking things up last night when I placed the bed on top of the frame I built for it. Then I got one of those "why not" moments.

So does anyone run one that way? Only tweaking I would have to do is make sure the body lines match up, which would not take much work.

We have not tried that, but "why not" sounds like it would work and you could attach it later on if you wanted to.

The bed on our white T-bucket is about an inch away from the body. I called it a bed but it is really more of a box with a lid.

On a stock T pickup and roadster there is a flange on the body that extends from about 10" up the curve on the rear. It covers the subframe for the body. At that point it's almost straight up to where the top of your box would be. The gap on one of those is about 3/4".

I don't think Paul's is attached.

I built mine from scratch and it attaches to only the frame. I made it to cover 3" below the frame, The bed is bolted to the top of the frame and the sides.
