Frame and body position

I am in the process of mocking up a frame for a 23 T body with an 8 in stretch, using CCR plans. My question is should the body set against the rear kickup, or should I notch the body and set it with the frame just sticking into the passenger area? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

It looks better if the body is up against the rear kick-up. Thats why the CCR body has that slope in it between the back and the floor.

I just did this on mine too, the farther into the body the rear kickups intrude, the less leg room you will have (it moves the seat back forward). If your frame is long enough (figuring the radiator, engine and body positions) keep the kickups out of the body as much as possible.

Thanks for the input this is the kind of answer I was looking for pertinent to the question.

From the side, the tires hide the kick up anyway. You got the extended body, use it to for foot room not frame cover!

One thing that should be considered is the rake angle of the back of the seat. A small intrusion of the kick up into the body will not interfere in the least with PROPER seating. By making the backrest vertical you will have a very uncomfortable ride, especially on an extended ride. Take a good look at a factory seat and you'll see what I'm referring to about rake angle.

Thanks guys good food for thought . It will be a great help in getting things rolling.

"Either read and do as to what the plans say, or to each his own... "

unless the CCR plans have been revised there is no mention to position in mounting the body. Nor is there a master cylinder mount. Best way to do it is to have the motor/trans and rearend mocked up and postion the body where you think it is best. It ALL really needs to be mocked up together. Depends alot on where you have the radiator mounted, which affects where the motor in mounted, which affects where the firewall and body is mounted.

But usually the body up against the rear kickups will be the best to start with. My 15 body had notches for the kickups (as well as no floor or firewall) which I filled and smoothed.

I'm keeping the body outside of my kick. Can someone suggest as a safe minimum gap between the body and kick to avoid any rubbing during road vibration?
