Once a motor gets up to temp, your OK. Some rings gotta have the heat to seat correctly. The cooler that water jacket is, has little bearing whats going on inside that cylinder. Once Ignition has lit that charge, and your running, pulling a load, that waterjacket is keeping things from melting down, pulling the heat away from critical parts like valve stems and the like.
Sit in traffic, with that car in drive and when that temp needel gets on the edge of 220 degrees, then, start wishing you had put that 165 degree thremo in there or that restrictor.
Are you gonna actually run the motor in that T long enough to wear your rings out? You'll probably just freshen it up when you change out that cam and convertor....
