Does anyone know if I will need special headers for the heads on this engine? It has the angle plugs and the D shaped exhaust ports. The set I have now are Eagle( sprint type) headers with 1 5/8" tubes. Would these work OK? The info for the motor says they are modeled after older Corvette style heads. Would I be better off with the 330hp. 350 HO motor with Vortec style heads?
I'd say yes, your stock ones will fit, but to doublecheck, call Campbell-Chevrolet or Sallee-Chevrolet....hold a header gasket up there to check. If not, you can always run a exhaust plate.
Ok thanks, I'm picking up the motor tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to getting her back on the street. The local AZ has oil pump priming tools to rent so I've been looking up all the info I can find on new startup. I want to make sure I don't forget anything as I've built alot of race bike motors over the last 40 years but this is my first car motor startup. I'm going to buy new Patriot headers after I break her in so I'll call them too. The old girl should be almost like new by Summer.

Well I picked up my engine today from Pace because they are close and I could pick it up. I bought the assembled one. I just have to add the pulleys and mount the alt. I got the wrinkle black finish to match the black theme of my T. She ought to run pretty good once I tune her up. I will be installing tomorrow. I am really enjoying retirement.Buying my T project was the best thing I have done in a long time. Where else can you learn so much and get so much satisfaction of acomplishment at the same time. Will post some picks when she's done.
