Here's a Christmas article you may enjoy

Finally got around to reading the article... it's a good one for sure...

I remember on similar year... early 60's we lived out in Sun Valley, CA... very rural back then... dusty... tumble weeds and such... anyway, to save some money my dad grabbed up some of them tumbleweeds and proceeds to "try" and build a Christmas tree... got it all but together, painted it white and added some silver sparkles to it, and dressed it up with some ornaments...

To this day I believe my dad defined the original "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree... man it was ugly! We didn't let anyone into the house for fear someone would see it...

When I was stationed in Oklahoma in the 80s our maintenance shop had a tumbleweed they sprayed green and decorated for their shop tree. The maintenance chief said that when he and his wife were in west Texas early in his career they had done that for their first tree. I admired their creativity and still do.
