I could not disagree more. I never run vacuum advance on my hot rods, and know many who do not as well. Blanket statements like that, when presented to those who are trying to learn can be very misleading and maybe even detrimental.

A loot of rodders don't run vacuum, especially with light cars and low gears, but they also typically have distributors that allow them to customize the curve to allow more initial, without going over on the max.

Take the statement as a whole with the qualifiers, and don't cherry pick just part of it out of context
