My rear end stance

Installed coil overs today. Does the stance look ok so far. No interior yet, and that tank is empty, and I still need to install the box.

Hard to tell how far it will settle down when all the other stuff is on it, but right now it looks just a tad high. What happens when you put your own body weight on the back ?

Don

You add the weight of the driver, possibly passenger, tank of fuel and a few odds and ends probably would look good. Maybe you can add the equivilent of that weight and see how it sits then

What is the spring rate on your coil-overs? I wouldn't change anything 'till you get the rest assembled.

Ron

I was thinking it looked a little high. If I stand on it it don't go down much. That isn't the tank thats going on the car. New one will be 12 gal. 3 gal. less. The interior maybe will weigh 120lbs w/battery.
I'm using #150 spring rate 10" springs. Other people told me to go #165, Speedway said I should do #125 or #140. So I went #150. It doesn't leave me any room for adjustment.

Oh and my Jag setup is basically same as Lee_in_KCs is. He told me he uses #165 rate.
I got less then 3 weeks left to be able to exchange the springs.

I'm not going to be driving with a full tank of gas all the time. :-)

Chris, did you roll the car a little after lowering the jack? Because of the way the suspension swings, the tires need to move out to allow the car to fully settle. I would say with 150# springs, the car will sit somewhat lower when complete and up to curb weight. On mine, I had to actually crank the spring adjusters up about an inch to get the stance I wanted after the car was up to full weight, and I have 165# springs. I'll be interested to hear how your car rides with those 150s. Mine is a little stiff with just me and a near-empty tank. With two and a full tank it rides very nice.

I haven't rolled it yet. I'll try that. I would love to know how it rides too. :-) I'm not going to finish it til maybe Sept. Money for parts is coming slow, and I'm moving to a new apt soon.
Seems every part I need coats 100 +. errr

One thing that I have always found is that a car will settle down in the back the first time you put some power to it. My 27 dropped down about 4 inches years ago the first time I let the clutch out, so when I redid the car I built the rear spring to set the car higher and although it settled down again it ended up close to where I wanted it.

Take it out and do a smokey burnout, that will drop it down a little bit. :D:D

You mean like this, Don?

I listened to Speedway the first time I got my coil overs for the Jag and they were way wrong. I exchanged the 125# for 165# and it is just about perfect with full tank of gas and two people. Half shafts are within 1 degree of being parallel to the ground and that is what I am told to shoot for. The camber is 1 degree in towards the body, but I am going to leave that for now until after the Nationals.

If push comes to shove Chris, I have a pair of 140's you can try out later. I know of one that has 150's in it and although it's a fresh build ( 200 miles or so ) he loves the ride.

Ron

I rolled it back and forth, and it went from 7* to 5*, and if I stand on it, it will go to 4*. So I think I'm ok. Just going to have to finish it and see what happends.

Yeah, man, you're in good shape!! Main thing to be concerned about now is if you bottom out on bumps. Won't know 'til you drive it.

Edit: Ooops, Don slipped in there while I wasn't looking (that's what SHE said!). My response was to Chris's post!
