New here and shopping for a T bucket

Hi, love the forum. I’m new here and looking at T buckets to buy. I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.

My wife wants to go with me to shows but has limited mobility (on a walker). I’m looking at Ts with doors, especially the touring with 4 doors so the back seat can store our car show chairs and her walker. My concern is keeping her safe from burning her legs on the header side pipes.

I’ve thought about putting Velcro on 2 feet of carpet to make into a roll to slide over the pipe when she gets out?

Anyone have some suggestions so I don’t reinvent the wheel?

Thanks for having me!

Welcome! Simplest way to avoid burned legs is just to re-route the exhaust. Either run it under the car like a traditional hotrod, or use a different type header that doesn't run under the door. Another option is heat shields that fit over the side pipes.

My wife has zoomies on her T-bucket. They have motorcycle baffles to reduce the noise. She likes 'em, and there is no worry about burns.

Definitely cheaper to buy a built car but, it won’t be necessarily the exact way you want it

With mobility issues you may need a wider door than most t buckets have. You may have to modify one to suit. I have a Video with a guy that made a seat that slid out to load a disabled owner. Don’t know how much you can or want to do but with some planning anything is possible. I’m putting doors in mine that the whole side will open up to accommodate my limited knee range of motion.

Thanks LongJohn. I’m going to see a T bucket with 4 doors this weekend and think it might work for her. Reason for the four door touring is having a place to put her walker and a couple of chairs to take to the car shows in the back seat.
