New here and shopping for a T bucket

Hi, love the forum. I’m new here and looking at T buckets to buy. I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.

My wife wants to go with me to shows but has limited mobility (on a walker). I’m looking at Ts with doors, especially the touring with 4 doors so the back seat can store our car show chairs and her walker. My concern is keeping her safe from burning her legs on the header side pipes.

I’ve thought about putting Velcro on 2 feet of carpet to make into a roll to slide over the pipe when she gets out?

Anyone have some suggestions so I don’t reinvent the wheel?

Thanks for having me!

Welcome! Simplest way to avoid burned legs is just to re-route the exhaust. Either run it under the car like a traditional hotrod, or use a different type header that doesn't run under the door. Another option is heat shields that fit over the side pipes.

My wife has zoomies on her T-bucket. They have motorcycle baffles to reduce the noise. She likes 'em, and there is no worry about burns.

Definitely cheaper to buy a built car but, it won’t be necessarily the exact way you want it

With mobility issues you may need a wider door than most t buckets have. You may have to modify one to suit. I have a Video with a guy that made a seat that slid out to load a disabled owner. Don’t know how much you can or want to do but with some planning anything is possible. I’m putting doors in mine that the whole side will open up to accommodate my limited knee range of motion.

Thanks LongJohn. I’m going to see a T bucket with 4 doors this weekend and think it might work for her. Reason for the four door touring is having a place to put her walker and a couple of chairs to take to the car shows in the back seat.

Good Morning Spanky, I have not wrote or checked in in awhile. I have a question for You - Sir. When You went to answer Mr. Wynzwrld - how to keep the exhaust away from his wife's legs when she enters or exits. You posted two pictures. Jim Jacobs 29 Phaeton and a Blue 23/25 T Roadster / Turtle Deck which appears to have a 1949 Cadillac Engine. My question where did You get the photo of this Blue T. Was it out of a magazine ? If so may I have the name and date of magazine. If not that. Do You know who owns this Blue T. Or is there anyone out there reading this note to Spanky know this T Roadster. Hope Your doing well. Thank You Very Much for Your time and info. Sincerely, Bernie

Hey Bernie. Unfortunately I found that pic of the blue T while surfing Facebook and don't know exactly where it came from.

Hey Spanky, If You remember - can You tell me where You were at on Facebook when You found that Blue T. Thxs I have a T I would like to post or send You fellows some pictures. Can you tell me how to go about and where to send pictures. I would also like for this picture to be above my name - oldtymehiboy. Thxs Spanky

Google Lime Fire or Limefire headers. You will find lots of people who make them. Sanderson comes to mind.

Sorry, I can't remember where I found that pic of the blue T on Facebook. If you send me pictures of your T I will gladly post them. Creating an avatar with photo is something that someone on here should be able to walk you through. One way or the other, we'll make it happen.

To add your picture above your name, click on your username in the top right corner, then click on "Account details" (see image)

Then you should see a blank image with an O (as in the first letter of your username), click that image to add/change your avatar (aka profile pic).
Hope that helps,
Janet
