Old New Guy

I just want to introduce myself to what seems like a really great bunch of people. I am an "old" guy in age but a new guy to your group and to forums in general. I even had to get my son to show me how to post on these things. But enough about my short comings in the computer world. I have been reading the post for quite a while and have enjoyed doing so. I had a bucket in the mid '60s and have been thinking about recreating it with some updates. I have been in the race car fabrication buisness for about 35 years. Started out in West Tennessee building Harley frames when bikers were bikers and had no money. Moved to Texas in early '70s and began building Top Fuel dragsters, hot rods and H-D frames. Moved to North Central Arkansas about 2 1/2 years ago and thought I might slow down my life. Wrong! This economy has really changed that plan so here I am sitting on the mountain welding parts. Hopefully I'll find time this summer to start my roadster project. I have most of it worked out in Autocad with only a decision on front suspension and steering. I hope I can be an asset to this group and I know I'll learn a lot from you guys. Just so we are clear, I am not here to advertise services or compete with sponsors of this site. I am here to enjoy myself and pass on any advice or constructive opinions that might help someone lost in the dark. After all, I to am just a white boy lost in the blues. Thanks for letting me aboard.

Good to have you. Anyone who loves these old T's is an asset to the board. You are lucky to be close Spirit Industries. On your front suspension & steering, Don't try to reinvent it. Too many times people try to deviate from the tried and true with less than positive results.

Todd,

Thanks for the advice. I have always tried to think and build with simplicity in mind. Sometimes the mind wonders and the results are a lot more work. I did get involved in building proto road racing cars for two different companies a while back. Never good or simple but it does work the mind and pay the builds. With that said, I'll still "try" to keep it some what simple. I have included a site that you can look at the last project car built here in Arkansas. I built the chassis, suspension and mounted the customer supplied body. Since this is a bucket site, I won't post any pictures here, you'll just have to go to their site to see it. Hope you like it as much as I did. Thanks again for your advise.

Welcome to the forum George, a guy with a background like yours will be a real assett.

Hello George and welcome to the T-Bucket Forums!

Apologies for your first post not appearing straight away. We have a spam filter that watches the first few posts of our new members. If it sees some specific words or character strings, it will hold that post for approval by one of the staff members.

You said absolutely nothing wrong, but the filter 'didn't like' one of the words you used, so the post was held up. Just keep posting in the knowledge you're not doing anything wrong. Before long, the filter will release your account and it will no longer pester you.

Don't worry about that George. We enjoy seeing pictures of each others work, even if it isn't of a T.

Glad to have you, George! With all those years of building and cruising, I look forward to reading your input and stories.:D

George whats your 20. I am in Tulsa. If you are close to springdale or siloamsprings i know a great tbucket secret about 25 miles from there. Its called Refab in Watts okla. Just over the tracks on 412. Vernon is the owner and has lots of t bucket parts and pieces.

I want to thank each of you for the great reception to your home. As they say, home is where you're comfortable and I already feel comfortable. As I become more experienced with posting I'll see about posting a few pictures of my old '60s roadster and other things.

To the Webmaster, thanks for patience with a ten dumb pen and paper guy. I'll do better. I am curious as to what "word" I used that was thought to be possible spam. Knowing my mouth doesn't always say what my brain told it to...well, you know!

Mr. Rooster.. I am about 42 miles south of Mountain Home and Spirit Chassis. My shop is in Mountain View, Arkansas. I'll have to get ought a map and see where Watts, OK. is. I have several long time friends in Oklahoma and talk to them from time to time. Maybe I'll get over there. I did go up to the Bucketbash in Mountain Home in '07 for a short visit. Got my roadster juices to flowing. Again, thanks to all.
