Powerglide vs Turbo 350

Since i'm rebuilding the 327 to drop back into the T-Bucket (the 350 crate engine will go in my '56 Chevy) i'm thinking about replacing the powerglide with a turbo 350. But with my vertical steering (old VW van) there isn't a lot of room between the steering box and the tranny. Does anyone know if the turbo 350 is wider than the powerglide?
