409T, thanks for the artical. After reading the whole piece I would change my reccomendation to Rooster about the ported/manifold ports in the carb. 25 degrees @ idle makes for a strong, bog free take off. Also that 50 degrees total vacuum advance is O.K.
Rooster, make sure to keep the idle around 800 rpms with vacuum advance connected and pay attention to the idle mixture. Set the initial timing with the vacuum advance disconnected, adjust to 800 rpms, reconnect advance, readjust idle to 800 rpms. Play with it and you will get it.

Its an HEI and i will bet its from china. I will do the afore mentioned this weekend and report back . Thanks guys for the info. And thanks 409 that was a very good artical.

No more pinging i am pingless, the pinging has ceased to exist, (disconnected the vac advance is all i have had time to do been BUSY at work
