Thanks for the kind words, guys. I really do appreciate it. I do expend a lot of effort on this site and it makes it all worthwhile, when people acknowledge that effort.
I feel badly for B.C., if he is getting spammed, over at the Buckethead Bash site. I used to use a few layers of defense, back in the day, when we ran vBulletin software. To be honest, the overwhelming majority of spam is being generated by robotic registrations and robotic scripts. And there is a very easy way to block those kinds of registrations (which I'll not share in public, as I don't care to load my own assassins' guns

). B.C., if there is any way I can lend you a hand, please let me know. I can likely dig you up an add-on or two that will help. Along with some suggestions on how to strengthen your defenses for the future.
I suspect if we lined everyone up in order of their hatred for spam, I would be right at the front of the pack. I absolutely detest spam, so I bust my chops to keep it off my sites. And all of you can reap the benefits.
Ha! Joe, for every one of our members who say I am the best, I can show you a half-dozen members who consider me the spawn of the devil. But when I look at the overall results, it seems my hard-line and hard-nosed manner has worked pretty well for us. I know of at least three sites that were set up to "show me how it is done", but we're still here. We're still the biggest, we're still the fastest-growing and we're still the most active T-Bucket discussion forum on the InterTubez, so I guess I must be getting at least something right.
And yes, back in the day, we used to have a Wall of Shame, where we posted e-mail addresses of the spammers. Sites like this one are regularly scraped by robotic scripts, hunting for e-mail addresses to spam. Which is why I always recommend no one share his or her e-mail address on the open forums. But when I would get the odd spammer, I would list that e-mail account for the scrapers to grab. With the advent of all the freebie, throw-away e-mail services out there, it is a waste of time. And you would be amazed at how many registrations we get with phony e-mail addresses, in the first place.
I appreciate all of you. I think you all need to give yourselves a big round of applause, actually. Because it is all of you who have made this site what it is. So mat it ever be.
