The excitement is building

Weekend Update . . . . .

It's been a great news / not so great news week.

Among the great news bits, is that they can fit the '34 grill shell to my frame while keeping the gas shocks up front.

The not so great news that goes with it, is that Josh has to order a different radiator to accommodate the change, as the '34 shell uses a shorter and slightly wider rad than the chopped '32 style that's normally used on Spirit's '27Ts.

That means about another 2 to 3 weeks of additional waiting. . . . . . In reality, to me that's a very negligible price to pay for how much I just really love the mean / aggressive appearance it gives the car (and with the 632, I doubt there'll be any problem living up to the mean / aggressive look)

All the rest is in the great news column . . .

My 632 crate motor shipped from Summit on Monday, and got to Miami on Wednesday, in time to make it onto Thursday's vessel. It should be here on-island next Tuesday, and then about 7 - 10 days to clear customs and all.

I also ordered the front drive system from BluePrint Engines for their tall deck motors to be sure everything would fit and work together properly. It comes with a water pump and alternator with all the brackets and pulleys, serpentine belt, and hardware. It shipped and will arrive in Miami early this next week, so that it makes it onto this next Thursday's vessel.

This one:

All the peripheral items from Summit, like starter and flexplate, have shipped and a few have arrived already.

If everything progresses smoothly, I should be able to test run the engine on a stand by Christmas, with the car coming sometime in January.

Talk about feeling like Christmas Time!!!

Great news!

I love the 33-34 ford grill. I had a chopped 32 grill & switched to a track nose. The track nose resembles a 33-34 radiator grill.

Almost an update . . . .

While I'm waiting on Spirit to get the new rad in so I can go to the '34 style grill, . . .

The 632 got here on Island, but hasn't cleared Customs yet, so I couldn't pick it up Friday after work.
It should clear sometime this week so I can have it to uncrate for next weekend . . . just a bit scary on how much it's going to cost me for duty and excise.

Also, all of my Summit orders are here, so I should have everything I need to test run this sweetheart on the stand . . . . well, except for some exhaust setup . . . guess I better start looking . .

The front drive system and break-in oils should also be in this week, hopefully they'll clear customs by Friday.

Oh well, I needed to get some space organized for it anyway, so I did some serious reorganization and took a fair sized load of junk to the bins.

Even an old set of big block exhaust manifolds would work for a test run. You just need something other than bare exhaust ports.

Easier said than done down here . . . .

Been online looking all afternoon for affordable headers of some kind, or even, as you mention, stock manifolds . . . Nothing is throw away cheap, and then there's the shipping that makes it even worse.

My kit comes with T style, AHC coated sprint headers, but they won't come until the whole kit ships in January.

I'll keep checking fleabay, but I'll probably just save up for another month or so and get a set of Sanderson Zoomies that I can use alternately with the T style headers if nothing comes along . . . at least that way, I haven't spent $$ on something for temporary use.

Isn't there exhaust manifolds in your truck? Or are the ports in the new head different than stock?

The truck has small tube headers, (probably sized to the truck head's small ports) but with the lifted body, it makes them all but impossible to get to. . . . not to mention the significant levels of rust welding everything together . . .

I think the truck is just best left as-is, at least it runs and drives since I worked on it . . .just needs brakes now . .lots of fluid leaks from having used them.

Maybe there's a repair garage that might loan you a used set of BB manifolds. Port matching won't matter for a test stand session. o_O

Christmas has come to the Caribbean . . . .

After a 2 weeks of Excise and Customs making things as difficult as possible . . . Excise finally released my crate motor and Customs finally cleared it so I could pick it up.

Fortunately for me, and probably why they tried so hard to jack me around, is that Excise recently lost it's court battle to continue collecting a 6% excise fee on almost everything brought into the VI Territory.

The motor cost a total of just under $300 to get it here from Miami, and Summit shipped it free to Miami.

Just a couple months ago, it would have been over $1K total. Hopefully, this will save me big time when the T ships next month.

Anyway, Here's what Santa brought me . . . .
