Timing

Well here I am again, I was just wondering, those of you running a 383 with 2- 4's and a tunnel ram, what do you set your timing at. I am running a little warm when it idles and would like to avoid a complete meltdown if I get in a situation where I have some slow stop and go, like parades and just slow moving traffic. I have an Extreme energy XE 284H street/strip rough idle cam from comp cams. Any ideas, thanks

I like to run about 16-18 initial timing, then run a total of 36-40 and have it all in by 2500 rpm. I had lots of trouble with the blower motor running hot, because of low timing.
