It depends on how much room you have for a driveshaft. But in most cases I would say yes, you need the short tailshaft.

I would say thats a good move. Shorty 350s allow a longer drive shaft. By the way the 350 is STRONGER than the 400 R4s that people go for these days. Come on lets face it who needs a 4 speed in a T.
I was a whisper away from putting a Power Glide in mine. The less I have to think about when driving the better is for me. Race car seems to work with 2 gears so why no the T
