Nothing like a little blast around town in the T-bucket to lift the spirits! Beautiful Spring Day here - temps in the low 70's, bright sun and low humidity. What fun! She's running great and I love the horn honks and thumbs up waves from folks. T-buckets are the best!

Maybe it's childish, but I sometimes imagine my T-bucket as an airplane, and I'm cruising the skies in my Sopwith Camel. This poem comes to mind . . .

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,

I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air ….

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace

Where never lark nor ever eagle flew—

And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

(“High Flight” by John Gillespie Magee Jr.)

I thought it was on raptor - silvered wings. It's been a long time since i've heard this poem. There was in a video of a jet flying through the clouds. It was played at the end of a broadcasting day ( on tv).... I was very young then ,yet , i was greatly impressed. Some stations played a musical rendition of " the lord's prayer " which was also greatly impressive. Aaaaaah , memories.

WW II pilots recited this poem along with quotes from Francis St. Exupery ("St. X" to the fighter jocks) who wrote The Little Prince.
