Auto darkening helmets are the best. I've got 2, one for me and one for my helper (wife). LOL, I didn't have the second helmet the first day I had the wife help me. I reminded her to not look at the light. She did anyway. Later that night she came to me crying. I asked her what was wrong, she cried out, "My eyes HURT!" I'm ashamed to admit (okay not really) that I started laughing at her. I explained that welder's flash is just like sunburning your eyes as I sliced up a cold potato for her to hold over her eyes.
