A sneaky threaded hole in the GM 305

Folks,

I'm buttoning up my motor, and something caught my attention as I was threading in my oil filter.
There is this threaded hole just below the #7 exhaust port, and right above the oil filter.
I believe that this leads to a sneaky little oil plug in the SBC's and GM motors.
My question is, should this hole be plugged in before the motor is cranked?

I have a pic but I'm not sure why I'm not able to attach it. I will
post a google picasa link later today.

thanks much!

I used that exact port to run my oil gauge on my '37. It works great.
