Any of you guys running a ford motor? I don't like the way the stock alt bracket looks.
I would like to mount it lower, but can't find a bracket I like. Any thoughts or suggestions??
nee some input.

Thanks guys,

Mark

Mark,
I'm running a 5.0 and the stock alternator bracket was far too wide and too high. I just made my own bracket, the alternator now sits low on passengers side of the engine. I can take a photo for you tommarrow if you like.

I am running a 302 ... got my brackets, made by March, from Summit. Pay close attention to where the alternator mounts before you order the bracket ... ask me how I know about this!

Here is some brackets I made for my Falcon. It has a reverse rotation pump on it but you could just omit the idler for a regular setup.
I am using the short pump from a 94/95 Mustang and the alt is factory mounted above the valve cover or else it hits the VC/head. I made the brackets to mount it low and back to line up with the wp.

I don't have a pic of my bucket setup but it looks like the march unit. I will try and get a pic tomorrow.

Here's my set up-- Its an aftermarket "stock" type top bracket, with a denso-type mini alternator mounted with the bolt to the head in a polished stainless spacer, and an adjustable bottom bracket of my design. The pulleys are Ford Motorsport. I fabbed a few top brackets and found that they were a bit clunkier than the stock one, so I used this for now. I may come up with another design later, but I know this works and it puts the alt where I need it. Its hard to see in the pic, but I have an early-style water pump that has the right side outlet. If I mounted the alt any lower I would have clearance issues. Hope this helps. I'll be at the shop tomorrow so if you want to see it from another angle I can get it.

Thanks, pictures would be great

BenT, another pic or two would be great. Maybe one showing the lower hose and its routing?

Here is the picture of my mount. I am not sure of the brand but I personally don't like how it mounts so high. They are from my phone so the quality is kind of poor but it will give the general idea.

Hare are a few more. You'll have to excuse the fact that the car is a bit dirty...It needs a good detailing, but I've been busy at work and doing repairs on my new house.

Here it is from the back. You can see the adjustable link for the alt. It is a couple of small heims that thread into a threaded rod. I realize that the top heim does not ahve a jamb nut. I was messing with the alt and lower hose a while back and forgot to put it on. Its on my list to do this winter...

Lastly, due to the right side outlet, the timing pointer is a pain. I had to make a bracket and use a pointer piece from an adjustable pointer I had.

Ben, thank you for the pics! I appreciate it. Not a lot of the Blue Oval camp representation in the T arena, so when the subject comes up, I try to grab the info. Thanks again.

No problem--happy to help any bucket head, especially the ones from the Blue Oval camp!. Here is a link to my photobucket album. Its not in order, there is no captions, and it is still incomplete, but it might help.
