Brake pads

I don't put a whole of miles on my T, so my brake pads are the original ones I got from Speedway. I notice some wear, and I'm thinking of replacing them. Any advice on what to use for new brake pads? I'm thinking that on these light weight cars we don't need a real aggressive pad compound. Probably just a simple organic pad material would work. Thoughts?

Well, the typical qualities to look for are;
Stopping under vehicle and driving conditions (Endurance racing is different than foul weather passenger car)
Pad wear VS disc wear
Dust control
Noise control
Cost
The geezer in the T didn't say what kind of pad he's running so I have no idea what the options are!

Well, the Geezer says the "original ones I got from Speedway" are what they describe as their soft pads for the street. That would mean non-asbestos organic composition. I don't drive it in foul weather, so . . . and I never exceed 70 MPH (well, maybe one time )

speedway has sold the old spot brakes for wire wheels up to the GM metric style I'm running and probably a half dozen more in between that could be bolted to your axle.
If you like all the attributes I listed with the 'soft' compound, and they still offer that, you should still be happy. If you want more or less of the attributes I listed, your best bet is to call their tech line. Second best is to ask here, BUT it's gotta be someone running the same disc/caliper/tire and who has tried more than one pad. Hopefully they drive in similar conditions and style. LongJohn might need to slow down just a bit more than you!
