Chevy axle/spindle question

Is there a difference from side to side on the 48-54' Chevy spindles, or are they applicable to either side?

Does anyone know of 48" or wider Chevy axles with spring perch bosses, and the forged axle ends?

The Chevy spindles are the same from side to side. We can make up to a 4" drop tube axle for Chevy spindles any length you want. We use billet ends. Not sure what kind of perch bosses you want.

Keep in mind that the 49-54 Chevy did not have a straight front axle in it.

Ron, I'm talking about the kind of bosses used in a typical spring-over-axle 4 bar setup, using perches like the ones below.

Right now, the only reason I'm considering the Chevy spindle axles is that there are kits out there to mount the smaller/lighter Mustang-II/Pinto disk brakes on the Chevy spindles, and so far I've found nothing comparable for the Ford spindles.

FYI - I built a C-Cab back in 1975 and I used 1954 Chevy Spindles on a '35 Ford axle. I had to modify the king pin bosses on the axle to accept the larger diameter Chevy king pin and the shorter height Chevy spindle. The real problem is the difference in king pin inclination. Ford and Chevy used different geometry, so the front axle ended up with about 2.5 - 3 degrees negative camber on both sides. It drove fine and is still on the road to this day, but it was a little hard on tires and I was constantly having to explain why "that front axle looks funny". You can see the negative camber in the picture below. Back then I used what I had because I was broke (still am). My advice now - use the Ford spindles or let RPM build you an axle with correct geometry.

If you're going to use a tube axle , how about taking one set up for chev. spindles & installing bosses to accept the ford spring perch ??

Supposedly Speedway sells the axle I'd probably use...a Chevy spindle 48" with a 3" drop and spring perch bosses the same size as their equivalent Ford axles. The problem is that they have been on back order for some time...I was just looking for alternatives.
