I've set up 3 of these, the 1st one was a total nightmare....on a mostly stock small motor. The one for the BigBlock came out good, wasn't too bad to tune, then the 302 cam in. Once the powervalves were set, got the timing where it was good, she was sweet. Took some wrenchin' though....
The 302 was a solid lifter .525 lift, 265 dur., (put the cam in straight up, which came out 1 degree advanced)(Coyles Hex-A-Just) 10.5 to 1, MSD ign., once timing was good, carbs were able to be set fairly quickly.
The Injection will run better, quicker, better mpg. Gotta keep it fed with good clean fuel. Todays fuel is total crap, the EFI can usually be tuned quicker, just use your laptop in a few minutes. The carbs are great, I love them, its all in what you want.
If you wanted the perfect setup, get a good used 2X4 manifold, about $100 at a swap meet, then get 2 injection bodys with whatever EFI system you want. Best of both worlds....
With the EFI, the rings and motor overall will last alot longer, cause your always putting in just what the motor needs and no more.
