Just starting a T

Hello everyone,My name is Steve and I,m from Niagara Falls Canadaaaaa.I,m starting to build a T with a sbc ,63 ,10 bolt rear and 350 tranny. Ibought it in a pile of pieces and trying to get it up as soon as I can. I.m 61 and a sheet metal worker ,I guess the way work is I can say semi retired. I am hung up on the best way to for rear brakes.I would like to go drums but can,t find any backing plates etc. I guess when I know how to post pics I will show all my progress. Oh ,front is mustang 2 with 4 and a half bolt centres 5stud with hoosier tires. Rear are 4 and 3 quarters and big wide hoosieers. Is this a good start for an intro. I read most of your forums ,so I will thank you all . Steve

Steve, If all else fails, just grab a "complete" different rear end assembly, most anything will work fine, pick one you like the looks of, they all work great in these light cars, don't even be worried about what gears you get.. I happen to have a Chy, rear with super tall gears, great for gas mileage... Sometimes you have to pay more for a few parts than a complete rear end.. Good Luck on your project.

Welcome to the site.

Yeah, shouldn't be that hard to find backing plates for a 10 bolt. But, if you can't then the advice given above is an excellent one. Just find another complete rear diff. Actually I have a complete spare "G body" 10 bolt, drum to drum, with 373 gears and a G80 posi. But I think shipping to Canada may kill you.

GL with your build.

Welcome to the forum sbarn4222, I don't think finding backing plates for your 10 bolt should be a problem. I'll bet a couple of phone calls to the local wrecking yards in your area would turn them up.

Welcome Steve, you've come to the right place. Show us pics of your progress when you get a chance.

"WELCOME" to the site Steve. Bet you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
