Lug nuts

Hi, I have a 96' S-10 rear end and when I bought lug nuts to hold the temp wheels on the Auto store told me they were metric. My front spindles are 49-54 Chevy, SAE 7/16 - 20 lug nuts. Does it make any sense to change out one or the other to have them all the same?

And if I did change them would the SAE 7/16 - 20 be best? or metric? Thanks!

I would leave them as they are, usually the rears are different than the fronts anyway, well depending on the wheels... No sense wasting money there, spend it on something more important. just me here. :)

I'm with Ted on this one. As long as you remember that you have two different ones on your car you will be fine.

I would. How hard is it to get all 20 studs or bolts the same? Why have two different type lug nuts? Gotta carry two different sockets too? Mine are all 1/2"-20.

I agree with blownt.

Ted,

Thank you Ted, I've always wanted to be right about something and now you admit that I'm always right about everything (in my own way). HA! At least that's how I interpret your response, and if that's wrong, I'll just stick to that story anyway.

SOO, we agree totally on this, if you are on the road, you probably won't fix a flat without assistance anyway, so let the AAA truck guy or the tire shop handle the storage of the wheel wrenches. For all the trailer guys, they can just as well carry two sockets in that big trailer as one. And I also agree that everyone is right in his/her own way...

So, with that said, the amswer is obvious, Ted is right.

Gotta carry two sockets? Do you gents also carry jacks? At least one could get a wheel off to take somewhere to have a flat repaired and hope your car is still there when you get back as I don't think anyone carries a spare tire.

Jack, tools and Spare tire?? that is where that small trailer comes in very handy on trips, carries all your needed extra STUFF! :) I know a fellow that tows his all the time, to each his own, I say... But with the T Buckets being as short as they are, you can get a Bucket and short trailer with a slid-in tongue into one normal parking space.. hehe PS. for ease of backing those trailers, a long tongue comes in very handy... Just slide it out and lock it, just like with a boat trailer... :)

Yes Ted I can see you now pulling your trailer on highwaw --101---going north! -- as we speak!
