I've been missing from this forum for approximately 3 weeks. The 3 weeks time was spent at U C Davis burn center. My 4 1/2" hand held grinder ignited the 2 shirts i was wearing. I was seriously burnt. my right arm , my arm pit and my pectoral (breast). I had to have skin grafts. The graft was taken from the front of my right leg. The area between the hip and the knee cap. I'm home now , still trying to heal. It's a very slow process. I am anxious to get back to my build. I had many real cool things happening with it when the accident happened. The medical staff at U C Davis burn center are very skilled and very caring. I was in great hands.
Sorry to hear about the horrific accident! I never knew that an angle grinder could do that. Hang in there. Healing takes a lot of time. You’ll be back at it in no time! Prayers coming your way.
I've used a 41/2" hand held grinder for more than 20 years. I was rudely awakened by a flame standing on my shirt. I didn't have enough room to drop & roll. i had to remove the burning clothes. That was one hell of a nightmare.
I took my gas tank to Dentoni's Welding to have some modifications done on 4-10 2025. So , now i wait. U.C,DAVIS burn center released me to return to work yesterday 4-14-25. I'm not physically ready until i have a full range of motion with my right arm. I was shown some exercises to accomplish full range of motion. I've been doing the exercises religiously.
