Mykk's BMW V8 T-bucket, version 1.5:

Finished the homemade 'Header adapter'. Tested it out on Bucket #1:









Fired it up, cycled through a couple different kinds of mufflers held up to the collector. The one I have been using is still the best sounding option. Started lining things up on the 2nd build.


Lining up the muffler to the frame looks nice and even but it gets real tight against the body and I don't think I can sneak the turnout in there.





I think I'm going to have to angle the muffler mounting V'd out just a bit for clearance.

Had an idea for the ignition. Rather than individual coils per cylinder that get fired in waste spark anyways. Use self igniting 4 cyl waste spark coil packs and run cloth covered ignition wires from the coils to under the plastic covers on the valve covers to the cylinders for a 'vintage' look.

These coils receive the logic level 5v triggers from the EFI, no need for external drivers. I'm debating 90 degree boots for low profile or straight terminal and points type boots for the vintage look. I don't think I'd be able to arrange the coils in a way to mimic a distributor cap.



I've mapped out a few ignition lead routing options and I think this layout will appear the cleanest:



The fuel injectors sitting in the throttles are coincidentally from a BMW, they have the extended nozzle that I like, a standardized EV1 connector and a manageable lower flow rate (20lb/hr) that will be easier to dial in for idle and cruise.
 
Adapting aftermarket ITB's from a different application. After some cutting & grinding and making spacers I'll be able to get these manifolds to bolt down to the BMW heads. I even like the short stacks.

Oh yeah the short stacks look perfect. Jaguar superchargers are cool but the throttle bodies make it say VA VA VAAAROOOM. Something about 8 throttle bodies on a BMW V8 makes me 😁 & 🤤
 
The idea for the main fuel tank. 8" x 28" aluminum tank under the cowl with the filler through the center. I'm sure a more talented fabricator then I could of come up with a snug fit tank to utilize the space more efficiently.









It won't leave any room for gauges or switches, but I have an idea for those.

I was dreaming of a big flip up Cobra style filler cap, but the cowl shape doesn't lend itself it to that style of cap. So instead I'm thinking a smaller Monza style flip cap. The tank will be supported by the arms used for the steering gear for the cowl steering, however the box will be mounted lower then it currently is in the other Bucket.





The tank hanging down below the dash does look like a space hog, but there is still plenty of foot, pedal, steering gear and bellhousing room.
Curious what will be the MPG of the BMW? A 6 gal tank on a V8 t-bucket reminds me of when I had a 2 gal frisco tank on my panhead chop. Lots of praying there’s a station at the next exit but at least you’ll have a fuel gauge. All tho it was great filling up the bike for under a buck.😁

As it is.... I put 6-7 gallons in my current 14 gallon tank every 1-1.5 weeks. Granted I'm not doing long road trips, but I do romp around town almost every day. I figure without the supercharger it'll be less thirsty.
